An overview of Baptist work among Chinese in Georgia

 

There are currently five Chinese Baptist missions and churches in Georgia. There are an estimated 30,000 Chinese in the state consisting primarily of Mainland Chinese, Taiwanese, and those from Hong Kong. Languages spoken include Mandarin and Taiwanese. One of the state’s oldest Chinese groups in the Southern Baptist Convention has been meeting at First Baptist Church of Augusta since the 1880s. The largest church is First Chinese Baptist Church of Atlanta, which meets in Duluth. It is the only Cantonese speaking church in the city.
