A potential Disaster Relief Phase I Training could take place on Oct. 17 in the Macon area, said a memo from GBC Disaster Relief.

GBC Disaster Relief has been coordinating with peers in South Carolina this week following historic flooding in the state. In addition to creating Buckets of Care for stricken residents, donations can be made directly to South Carolina Baptist Convention Disaster Relief.

Volunteers are being urged to not self-deploy yet, as floodwaters further inland make their way toward the coast. More than 250 roads and 100 bridges remain closed across the state with a current death toll of 17.
