Five vision trips slated for inside the Perimeter

The Urban Atlanta Impact Initiative, a consortium to increase church planting, evangelism, and leadership development inside the I-285 Perimeter, is sponsoring a series of one- and two-day tours in the coming weeks. The Initiative is a partnership of the Georgia Baptist Convention, Atlanta Association of Southern Baptists, and the Atlanta Metro Baptist Association.

Team leader Fred Pitts, pastor of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church, said the tours are $25 each, including all meals. Pitts said the tours are being provided to enable churches to increase their vision for reaching the state’s largest city and to explore partnerships with congregations inside the Perimeter.

“We are in the process of seeking to call a strategist – a missionary whose sole focus would be to minister inside the Perimeter. Most likely this would be a church planting missionary pastor who would be dually appointed through NAMB and the state convention,” he added.

The one-day tours will be held on Aug. 12, Jan. 13, and May 12. They will begin at noon and include a prayerwalk in several locations and interaction with local pastors. The day, which will include dinner, will end by 9 p.m.

The two-day tour will be held March 3-4, 2009. It will meet from 4 - 9 p.m. on the first day and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the second with a similar, though expanded, agenda. Lodging is not included.
