Three new staff members recently joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Martin. Joshua W. Arvill, who previously served at Prince Avenue Baptist Church in Athens, accepted a call June 23 to serve as associate pastor. Lee Hall, who previously served at Carnesville Methodist Church for nine years, accepted a call as musical worship leader May 4. Karem Marin started in June as ministry assistant. Ross Layne is pastor.

 

First Baptist Mableton has called Steven Byrd as pastor. He and his wife, Jennifer, will assume their new position on July 20.

 

Bull Street Baptist in Savannah called Calvin Fowler as pastor June 29. Fowler succeeds the retiring Earnie Pirkle. Fowler is joined by his wife, Char-La, sons Richard and Henry, and daughters Chandler and Collins.

 

Mark Grinsted began service as pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Macon July 1. Previously, he and his wife, Denise, served at Toomsboro Baptist Church.

 

Kevin Owen recently began his ministry as minister of youth to Calvary Way Baptist Church in Ellijay on June 1.

 

Green Acres Baptist Church in Athens called Charles Parrish as pastor June 22. Parrish, who has a master’s degree from Southeastern Seminary and a doctorate from Southern Seminary, is joined by his wife, Kathy.

 

Harry Sherrer began as pastor at Eastern Heights Baptist in Statesboro June 1. He had previously served at Forest Hill Baptist in Maryville, Tenn., and is joined by his wife, Rhonda.

 

Jody Thrower was recently called as minister of students at East Newnan Baptist. Previously he served as bi-vocational pastor of North Coweta Baptist in Palmetto. A native of Newnan and graduate of Brewton-Parker College, Thrower and his wife, Jennifer, have two daughters.

 

Mt. Harmony Baptist in Mableton has called Randal Whitten as pastor effective August 4. Whitten and his wife, Catherine, are from Granbury, Texas.
