Horror stories of government family planning leak out after China reverses child policy

Eyewitness accounts of mothers being forced to undergo abortion procedures in China have been around for years as the country sought to maintain its one-child-per-family policy. With the announcement last week that couples can now have two children, more stories are revealing to just what lengths government officials took in maintaining its previous policy.

Needles being forced into pregnant bellies and homes torn to ruins for violating the mandate were included in those accounts. Official statistics say that as recent as 2012, 6.7 million women in China were forced to undergo abortions.
