Trinity Baptist Church in Thomaston will hold its 60th anniversary March 19. David Parker, former pastor, will speak at the 11 a.m. service. A covered dish luncheon will follow in the fellowship hall.
Georgia Baptist pastor Wayne Hayes, of Douglas, died Jan. 21 at Coffee Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. He was 65.
A retired teacher from the Coffee County Board of Education, Hayes was a minister for 46 years. During that time he served as pastor of West Green Baptist Church in West Green, DeBerry Baptist Church in Ambrose, God's People Church in Douglas, and most recently, Mims Baptist Church in Alma.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Joann, sons Jason and Jeremy, and four grandchildren, all of Douglas, his mother, Winnie Lou Burkett Hays, and a brother, Wendell.
Delmar Murdock, a volunteer as Church Renewal Coordinator in Georgia Baptist Men's Ministry, died Jan. 23. He was 85.
Murdock and his wife, Peggy, served more than two decades volunteering in the ministry. In addition, he served as chairman of deacons from September 2005-October 2007 and Sunday School director from November 2008-November 2011 at Faith Baptist Church in Stockbridge.
