State basketball champs say thanks to Mountain Park, Stone Mountain

Mountain Park First Baptist Church recently recognized the Calhoun County state basketball champions and hosted them for lunch in the Stone Mountain church’s fellowship center after the March 29 worship service. Richard King interviewed head high school basketball coach Marcus Shaw and county schools superintendent Yolanda Turner during the service.

Mountain Park has an ongoing relationship with the school system and has made several trips to paint and repair the district’s schools and provide Vacation Bible Schools and Christmas events. In support of the team the church presented the players with their Class A Public Schools championship rings. Paul Ballard is pastor of the church, which averages 600 in Sunday worship attendance.

Gaines encourages Awakening attendees at Southwestern Seminary to ‘pray like it matters’
