Truett McConnell University’s shooting team excels at national collegiate shooting competition

CLEVELAND, Ga. — Truett McConnell University’s shooting team has once again showcased their exceptional skills at the ACUI Clay Targets Collegiate Shotgun Bowl Series in San Antonio, Texas. Sophomore Ethan Ledford secured 2nd place in Trap Singles and 3rd place in Trap Doubles, while senior Drew Weber and sophomores Michael Bowen and Kason Gooch also earned accolades for their shooting prowess and academic excellence.

Ethan Ledford expressed his gratitude and excitement, saying, “I am honored to represent TMU at the ACUI Shotgun National Competition. This year was particularly successful, and I am grateful for the support from Coach Philip Jones and my incredible teammates. I am excited to further improve and compete next year.”

Michael Bowen commented on his dual achievements: “I am honored to have been recognized for both my athletic and academic efforts. As Dezel Washington said, ‘Hard work works,’ and I am thankful for the ongoing support from my professors and Coach Jones.”

Kason Gooch added, “I appreciate ACUI acknowledging our athletic endeavors as well as our commitment to academic achievement. It’s a testament to the balanced excellence we strive for at TMU.”

Drew Weber reflected on his final season: “It was thrilling to conclude my senior season with strong performances at nationals and an academic award. My time at TMU has been filled with memorable experiences, thanks to my teammates and Coach Jones.”
