2015 Preaching Conference to precede GBC annual meeting

With a theme of "Faithful to the Finish," the 2015 GBC State Preaching Conference is designed to encourage ministers in sharing the Gospel, says John Darsey, conference president. "Times are difficult and a lot of us are in different places in ministry," says Darsey, pastor of Redeemer Church of Madison, a two-year-old church plant. "We want to encourage pastors to not let up in being faithful in their preaching. We'll be giving away a lot of door prizes in addition to making sure we're finished in time for them to get a bite to eat before the GBC annual meeting starts that evening." The Preaching Conference is set to begin at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 9 at Roswell Street Baptist Church in Marietta, finishing at 4:30. It precedes the Georgia Baptist Convention annual meeting, which will begin at the same location at 5:45 that evening.

Speakers for the gathering will be Jeff Crook, pastor of Blackshear Place Baptist in Flowery Branch; Herb Reavis, pastor of North Jacksonville Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL; and David Platt, president of the International Mission Board. Rhon Carter, worship pastor for First Baptist Church in Statesboro, will lead music.

"Each speaker is going to be bringing words of encouragement as well as a challenge," Darsey adds. "We want guys to walk out of that room with something that can be of help in their ministry."
