2017 Georgia Baptist Committee on Nominations announced

Georgia Baptist Convention President Thomas Hammond, First Baptist Church, Alpharetta, announces that the following persons will serve on the 2017 Committee on Nominations: (Chairman) Frank Cox, North Metro First, Lawrenceville; Billy Atkins, Jamestown Baptist Church, Waycross; Paul Ballard, Mountain Park First Baptist Church, Stone Mountain; *Greg Bentley, Elim Baptist Church, Ludowici; Johnny Craig Bowers, Wynnbrook Baptist Church, Columbus; Grady Caldwell, New Mercy Baptist Church, Griffin; Chris Conner, Faith Baptist Church, Monroe; Craig Dale, Ivy Creek Baptist Church, Buford; *Gary Luetzinger, Houston Baptist Association, Cordele; *Gary Lewis, First Baptist Church, Rincon; Chad Mantooth, First Baptist Church, Winder; *Bill Marlette, First Baptist Church, Adel; Chuck Owens, First Baptist Church Valdosta; *Jéan Ward, East Atlanta Church, Atlanta; and Dennis Watson, Harp’s Crossing Baptist Church, Fayetteville. Joining Convention President Thomas Hammond on the committee are ex officio members Executive Committee Chairman Mike Stone, Emmanuel Baptist Church, Blackshear and Executive Director J. Robert White. (*Second year of service)         

The Committee on Nominations announces that at the 2017 annual meeting of the Georgia Baptist Convention, seventeen (17) associational full-term memberships and four (4) At Large full-term memberships will be elected, as well as any unexpired terms which become vacant during the year. Georgia Baptists are reminded that the associations may suggest names to the Committee on Nominations for the associational vacancies.

Associations preparing to suggest names for consideration by the Committee on Nominations will receive a nomination form from the office of the Executive Director, and are requested to return the completed form to the office of the Executive Director J. Robert White, 6405 Sugarloaf Parkway, Duluth GA 30097 (770.936.5200; Fax: 770.452.6574 or email: dgaines@gabaptist.org). The Committee on Nominations will meet on May 8, August 15, October 17, and, if needed, November 13.

Associations for which full five-year term (2017-2022) Executive Committee members will be elected in 2017 are: Appalachee, Atlanta Metro, Ben Hill-Irwin, Bethel, Columbus, Dodge, Greater Atlanta, Gwinnett Metro, Hebron, Houston, Laurens, Mercer, Middle, Morgan County, Noonday, Savannah, and Smyrna.
