30 days of thanks

Today’s Scripture: Ephesians 5:20
When I was in elementary school, we would do an art project every Thanksgiving. First, we would trace the outline of our hand on a piece of paper. Next, we would color the hand brown, orange, and yellow. Then, we would glue a red triangle on the thumb and draw a couple of sticks on the bottom of the hand. If you squinted really hard and used your imagination, you might see a misshapen “turkey.”
Our teachers would then tell us to write down five things for which we were thankful, one for each finger. It was a great exercise in being thankful, even for those of us who lacked artistic ability.
The month of November is a great time for us to remember to give thanks to God. Ephesians 5:20 teaches us to “give thanks always and for everything to God.” Consequently, over the next thirty days, we will be focusing on thanking God for who he is and what he has done.
You do not have to be an artist to be thankful. You simply have to be intentional.
Today’s Prayer: Father, over the next month, teach me to be thankful. Remind me of all the things you have done for me.
