Association Missions reports for 2015

Each year Georgia Baptists gather around the state in spring or fall, depending on location, for their annual association meeting. Continue to check back for updates as other reports are added.

Chattahoochee Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 18 at Riverbend Baptist Church with Jose Delgado elected as moderator, Danny Jones as vice moderator, and Joan Walker as clerk. A resolution was passed on marriage and Jojo Thomas was recognized for 10 years of service as director of missions. Churches admitted into the association included The Branch Church in Dahlonega, Berea Baptist Church in Dahlonega, and Journey Church of Hall County in Gainesville.

Colquitt County Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 27 at Trinity Baptist Church. Wayne Woods was elected as moderator and Andy Cashwell as vice moderator. Noted at the meeting was the Georgia Baptist Ministries tent at the Sunbelt Ag Expo, where more than 1,000 people heard a personal presentation of the gospel in addition to other ministries performed and literature distributed.

Daniell Baptist Association met Oct. 18-19 at First Baptist Church in Vidalia and First Baptist, Mt. Vernon. Don Moye was elected as moderator, Chris Vinson as vice moderator, and Laura Hay as clerk. The announcement of nearly 300 people receiving Christ at the Harvest Evangelism emphasis was celebrated, as well as the start of the association's newest Hispanic mission, meeting at Cedar Crossing Church. A positive report of a growing prison ministry and dozens of inmates receiving Christ was given.

Dodge County Baptist Association held its annual meeting at Gresston Baptist Church in Eastman. Chris Dotson was elected as moderator, with Keith Powell newly elected as vice moderator. Joy Quinones is the clerk.

Ebenezer Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 20 at Antioch Baptist Church. Ed Smith was elected as moderator, Herschel Standard as as vice moderator, and Dawn Hardin as clerk. A resolution passed recommended that all churches update their constitutions and by-laws to reflect policies consistent with their beliefs in light of the Supreme Court's ruling on marriage.

Etowah Baptist Association met Oct 27, electing Brian Hones as moderator and Janice Dinsmore as clerk.

Georgia Baptist Association held its 231st annual meeting Oct. 25 at Lincolnton Baptist Church. Mark Woods was elected moderator, Chris King as vice moderator, and Randall Edmunds as clerk. A resolution of appreciation was passed for host churches of the spring and fall annual meetings.

Hightower Baptist Association met Sept. 30 at Liberty Baptist Church in Dawsonville and Oct. 1 at Mayfield Baptist Church in Gainesville. Pete Martin was elected moderator, Ricky Byrd as vice moderator, and J. Joey Wallace as clerk. Dawsonville Baptist Church was admitted into the association. It was reported that the association offices and food bank building and property had been paid off in full in 2015.

Lanier Baptist Association held its annual meeting and elected Gary Bulley as moderator. Janice Dinsmore is the clerk.

Laurens Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 18 at Jefferson Street Baptist Church. Lane Blanchett was elected as moderator, Allen Wiggins as vice moderator, and Wiley Beall as clerk. East Dublin Dayspring Worship Center and Redeemer Baptist Church were accepted into the association with Image of God Ministries admitted under watchcare. An amendment to the association bylaws was passed to address the topic of same-sex marriage.

Lookout Valley Association held its annual meeting Oct. 13 at Woodlawn Baptist Church. Johnny Wooten was elected as moderator, Steve Forester as vice moderator, and Sarah Flowers as clerk.

Mallary Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 15 at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Charlie Brown was named moderator and Jason Jones as vice moderator. Pat Wilks is the clerk. It was reported that 846 backpacks had been gathered for Appalachian schoolchildren. Hans Wunch was approved as the new director of missions, effective Jan. 1.

Morganton Baptist Association met Oct. 6 at Wilscot Baptist Church. Mike Campbell was elected moderator, Bob Richardson as vice moderator, and Martha Kreis as the clerk.

Mountaintown Baptist Association met Oct. 4 at East Ellijay Baptist Church. Those elected were Jim Fulmer, moderator, Dan Rosser, vice moderator, and Martha Kreis, clerk.

Mount Vernon Baptist Association met Sept. 26 at New Home Baptist Church, electing Gary Stanford as moderator, Andy Yates as vice moderator, and Betty Williamson as clerk. Julia Josey was honored for 38 years of service as associational clerk/treasurer in addition to many other positions. Joy Cook was elected associational treasurer.

Northwest Georgia Association held its annual meeting Oct. 19 at Peavine Baptist Church. Jeff Daniels was elected as moderator, Michael Smith as vice moderator, and Laura Gilbreath as clerk. Christ First Church of Rock Spring was admitted into full membership.

Piedmont-Okefenokee Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 22 at Shady Grove Baptist Church. Tim Hull was elected as moderator and Sarah Rozier as clerk, with the vice moderator yet to be chosen. The association dedicated its minutes to Sam Stack in recognizing his more than ten years as associational minister of music team leader and honored Aldine Crews, who died in August, for her service as WMU director. Bold Church in Waycross and Waycross Community Baptist Church were admitted into the association under watchcare.

Pulaski-Bleckley Baptist Association met Oct. 8 at Limestone Baptist Church. Todd Bishop was elected moderator, Lane Collins as vice moderator, and Harriette Allen as clerk.

Rehoboth Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 27 at Shirley Hills Baptist Church. Danny Stubbs was elected as moderator, Winfred Huff as vice moderator, and Kathy Bryant as clerk. No Limit Baptist Church in Warner Robins was admitted into the association under watchcare. Resolutions were passed on appreciation to the host church, the sanctity of human life, and the exposure of practices at Planned Parenthood. Recognition was given to the top ten baptizing churches in the association for 2015.

Roswell Baptist Association met for its annual meeting with Tom Jennings being elected as moderator and Janice Dinsmore as clerk.

Southeast Baptist Association met Oct. 26 at First Baptist Church in St. Marys. Whit Chapman was elected as moderator and Randy Collins as vice moderator.

Southside Baptist Network met Oct. 11 at Salem Baptist Church in McDonough. Tim Conort was elected moderator, Vincent Williams as vice moderator, and Jeff Lowe as clerk. SouthPoint Fellowship in Locust Grove was admitted into the association.

Tucker Baptist Association met Oct. 20 at Cool Springs Baptist Church. Nelson Burnett was elected moderator and Robert Lewis as vice moderator. Ronnie Morrell serves as the clerk. A resolution of appreciation was passed to the host church.

Tugalo Baptist Association held its annual meeting in October at First Baptist Church in Toccoa. Jesse Colbert was elected as moderator, Scott Smith as vice moderator, and Teresa Smith as clerk.

Western Baptist Association held its annual meeting Oct. 13 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Senoia. Jimmy Dale Patterson was elected as moderator, Brian Hosmer as vice moderator, and Cynthia Wilson as clerk. Real Life Baptist Church in Newnan was admitted into the association under watchcare. Hope Memorial Baptist was received into full membership and Fischer Road Baptist of Sharpsburg was received into membership following one year under watchcare.
