SARASOTA, FLA. — It’s just several hours past midnight when volunteers gather to begin preparing about 9,000 meals for the day as part of one Florida Baptist Disaster Relief feeding team. On this day, the team, consisting of 10 to 20 volunteers in Sarasota, will prepare about 5,000 hamburgers and 4,000 barbecue pulled pork sandwiches, along with 9,000 servings of baked beans.

I confess that I often make promises that I forget. My failure hurts other people. But God is a promise-keeping God. In our study, we will discover several future promises that God made to His people.

Each of us possesses a unique skill that cannot be easily taught. It is the ability to navigate through your home in the dark. While you have probably learned where each piece of furniture and light is located in your house, it would prove difficult for anyone unfamiliar with the layout. It isn’t that there is less darkness for you than for other people; you just know what is not visible to them.

NEW ORLEANS — Another result of the record-setting fundraising success NOBTS has recently experienced is the establishment of the seminary’s online Spanish program. NOBTS officially launched the program in the fall of 2021 as a shift from offering Spanish education at a campus extension center. 

Children’s Missions Day, an initiative of the Woman's Missionary Union, encourages children in grades 1–6 to take part in missions-focused projects that positively impact their communities. CMD took place on Sept. 21 this year with the theme Neighbors. The purpose was for children to let their neighbors know: “God loves me and he loves you, too! That’s why he sent Jesus!”

With today being Thanksgiving I am reflecting on some of the top things I am most thankful for. There are so many things that come to my mind when I think of being thankful. The definition of thankful is "expressing gratitude" but thankful can also mean "being conscience of benefits received."

FORT WORTH, Texas — Southern Baptist student ministry leader Shane Pruitt has been named student ministry instructor at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in the Jack D. Terry School of Educational Ministries, the seminary announced Monday, Nov. 25.

Cuba is still reeling from the devastating effects of not just one but three natural disasters. Hurricane Oscar hit eastern Cuba on Oct. 20. Hurricane Rafael ripped through western Cuba on Nov. 6. A 6.8-magnitude earthquake shook the eastern part of the island on Nov. 11, compounding the destruction left by the hurricanes.

The name of the second book of our English Bibles derives from the title the ancient Greek translators gave to the book. The name in the Hebrew Bible, in contrast, means “these are the names.” The ancient Greek title is a good descriptive title because a major portion of the book describes the people of God leaving from bondage in Egypt.

RESACA, Ga. — Emmaus Baptist Church is different from other churches. The worship services may seem somewhat unscripted but are certainly full of energy and life. The facilities are not characterized by tall steeples, chandeliers, and stained-glass windows, but they are inviting and marked by a convivial atmosphere.
