Comparing ourselves to others is a trap. It’s hard not to do, but it is definitely not good for us at all. I can see how my grandchildren struggle with this, but honestly I do as well.

In our culture, we do not value dreamers. I tend to be a daydreamer. I have had people say to me, “Mark to Earth,” as I dreamed about the coming months. In the Bible, God uses dreams at least a dozen times to reveal His nature or plan.

The melody was the same, but the voices united in worship sang in numerous languages. “Then sings my soul,” sang a group in Arabic. Deaf believers lifted hands to sign “My Savior, God to thee, how great Thou art.” The diverse group of worshipers praised in styles unique to their culture.

HIAWASSEE, Ga. — Macedonia Baptist Church in Hiawassee wrapped up a fruitful week-long Spring revival last week, seeing seven people profess faith in Christ and 14 come forward to be baptized since Easter Sunday.

For many, including me, the death and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth is the bedrock of the Christian faith. That Jesus suffered and rose from the dead is the fifth essential element of the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Let me outline some reasons for this belief and how it is so central to the good news of the kingdom of God. 

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — During celebrations of the Akins’ 20-year anniversary, Southeastern announced a new endowment in honor of Mrs. Charlotte Akin. The Charlotte Akin Student Aid Fund will supply financial assistance to full-time students who have received care from the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, South Carolina, or Georgia.

KANSAS CITY, Mo—Midwestern Seminary partnered with 9Marks to host “A Conference on Membership” on Tuesday through Wednesday, April 16–17. Speakers Jason K. Allen, Brian Davis, Zach Schlegel, Philip Van Steenburgh, Jared C. Wilson, Jonathan Leeman, and Jeff Lacine brought messages and led panel discussions aimed at providing a biblical understanding of church membership and cultivating meaningful membership practices in the local church.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Encouraging the Southwestern Seminary community and attendees of the Awakening National Prayer Conference held on the Fort Worth campus to “pray like it matters,” Steve Gaines, senior pastor of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee, opened the first session of the conference during the seminary’s regularly scheduled chapel service on Wednesday, April 18.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Pastors from across the country came to the campus of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for the first-ever Pastor’s Workshop. This new offering from Southern Seminary is designed for seasoned pastors to deliver a space for learning, networking, and retreat.

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Leavell College trustees approved faculty changes, received positive academic and financial reports, and welcomed a donation of items of historical value from the family of W. W. Hamilton, the school’s second president.

WAKE FOREST, N.C. — Southeastern Seminary welcomed its board of trustees and Southeastern Society to campus for their biannual meetings on Monday, April 15. This year, in addition to the plenary sessions and institutional updates, Southeastern celebrated the Akins’ 20th anniversary, ground was broken for a new dining hall extension to the Ledford Student Center, and over 80 students and their families were commissioned during chapel to go out on the mission field.
