Barrett served Colquitt County churches throughout 54-year ministry

Ronald Barrett, longtime pastor in Colquitt County Baptist Association, died Feb. 4 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville.
Over the course of his 54 years of ministry in South Georgia, Barrett spent 32 of them as pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moultrie. The Cairo native also served as pastor at Cool Springs Baptist in Sale City (5 years), Evergreen Baptist Church in Doerun (3 years), and Memorial Baptist Church in Moultrie, (3 years). Barrett also served as moderator and vice moderator of Colquitt County Association.
Preceded in death by a brother, Neal, and sisters Frances Prince and Betty Carter, Barrett is survived by his wife, Lottis Harwick Barrett, of Moultrie. Others include a son, Ronald T. “Ronnie Barrett, Jr., of Moultrie; daughters Paula Barr, of Thomasville, and Pam Burgess, of Moultrie; brother Carlos Barrett, of Concordia, Fla.; sister Glinda Nichols, of Cairo; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 7 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Moultrie with Andy Cashwell officiating.
