Don’t adapt to the energy in the room. Instead, influence the energy in the room.
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manner.” – I Corinthians 15:33
Think about it. How many times you have heard someone say, “If your friends jumped off a bridge, would you jump too?”
We all have probably heard that saying before. It was often said to teach us not to follow people into bad situations even if some of those situations looked like fun. However, in a child’s mind, it appeared that we could not be with our friends sometimes.
Now, allow me to shed a different light on to this. See, sometimes it is meant for us to leave a group of people. Sometimes it was meant for us to instead lead that group of people. If light can cast out darkness and good can cast out evil, then why can’t good manners cast out evil communication?
How does one cast out evil with good manners, you may ask? We can accomplish this by not entertaining negativity. When we hear people gossiping about someone, stop and say good things about that person. As believers, we must go from being influenced by the world to being influencers of the world through the WORD of GOD.
So, the next time you see something negative happening, be the influencer to change the dynamics.
