Bi-vocational Pastor

Whitemarsh Island Baptist Church (Savannah, GA) is seeking a bi-vocational pastor to lead our congregation. The position would include all the normal duties of a pastor who loves God and people and who wants to help our church grow spiritually as well as in attendance.

Understanding a bi-vocational position would mean the hiring pastor would need a secondary means of income while being available for the duties as the pastor of our church.  We understand that the church may need to be sensitive to the schedule and responsibilities of his other job. We are praying that God will grow our ministry and impact in the community and hope to eventually support a full-time pastor.

About Whitemarsh Island Baptist Church:

• A small congregation located on one of the islands right outside of Savannah, Georgia.
• Average Sunday morning attendance of 15-30.
• Desire to grow and reach Whitemarsh Island and the surrounding areas with both the good news of salvation for unbelievers and in-depth teaching for mature believers.

Job Description:

• A close relationship to God and a heart for the Lord.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
• A man who will love and lead our church and work with us as we serve our Lord.
• Preach Sundy morning service and possibly teach Sunday or week night Bible study.
• Prepare and lead the Sunday morning service.
• Prepare members for Christian living and church leadership by teaching and preaching from the Scriptures.
• Attend to the congregation’s pastoral needs, including (as necessary and available) visitation, prayer, and counseling.
• Perform wedding ceremonies, funerals, baptisms, baby dedications, and lead business meetings.
• Prior pastoral experience is preferred but not required.
• A seminary degree is not required, but some formal training is preferred.
• Must meet the biblical qualifications of an elder. (1 Timothy 3; Titus 1; 1 Peter 5:1-4)
• He is committed to integrity and accountability to those he servers.
