Created in God’s image

Scripture for today: Genesis 1:27
If you find yourself struggling with issues of inferiority and insignificance, realize afresh and anew that God created you. As the Word says, God created man in His own image” (Genesis 1:27). That means we have been fashioned in the likeness of the great I AM, the omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient One.
Because He made you, you are valuable. As David said in one of his songs, “For you formed my inward parts; You wove me in my mother’s … I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14). Referring to the birds in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus said, “Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26).
Not only are you valuable, you are unique. If no two snowflakes are alike you can rest assured that no two human beings are the same – as proven by no two people having the same fingerprints.
Your life may have begun at conception, but God knew you long before then. These words to the prophet are just as applicable to us as they were to him 2,600 years ago: “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5). Be aware of your pricelessness in your Maker’s eyes, knowing, as a great theologian once said, “God don’t make no junk.”
