Excuses, excuses, excuses

Scripture for today: Rev. 3:20
When asked by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land, Moses responded with a series of excuses. “Who am I that I should go? Whom shall I say sent me? What if they don’t believe me? I’m not a good speaker.”
This brings to mind the story of two Sunday fishermen who heard church bells ringing in the distance. One said, contritely, “You know Sam, we really ought to be in church.” Sam, while re-baiting his hook said, “Well, I couldn’t go anyway. My wife is sick.”
According to Ben Franklin, “He that is good at making excuses is seldom good at anything else.”
What’s your excuse? What’s keeping you from a thriving relationship with Christ? God loves you and won’t give up on you. As the Bible says, “Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him and he with Me” (Rev. 3:20).
Respond to His invitation today.
