GBC President Hammond calls for pastors to join the 'Unite Georgia’ movement

ALPHARETTA — Georgia Baptist Convention president Thomas Hammond is as passionate for revival as any pastor you will ever meet. He longs to see God move mightily in our churches and our state. Furthermore, he is determined to work to that end.

Hammond knows that no significant revival has ever started apart from prayer. And so he is calling pastors together to pray for spiritual awakening in Georgia. His vision is compelling, practical, and biblical.

Georgia Baptist pastors are invited to come to a location near their section of the state to hear Hammond share his vision for revival and winning the lost in Georgia and be inspired to join the “Unite Georgia” movement.

Hammond, lead pastor of First Baptist Alpharetta, will be hosting five Unite Georgia meetings from his church in Fulton County to Valdosta and from Augusta to Villa Rica. In fact, notice the dates and locations of these Pastors’ Prayer Luncheons below and plan to be present. You will be thrilled and blessed to connect with other pastors as we “Unite Georgia."

'To a greater level'

The Convention president explained, “I want to encourage pastors to join their hearts together to a greater level than ever before. In the days ahead we are going to need each other more and more. In dark times we all benefit from knowing there is someone interceding for us.

Church leaders, including Georgia Baptist Convention President and Alpharetta First Baptist Church Pastor Thomas Hammond, were on hand to speak with nearly 200 attendees at the event. “I also want to encourage pastors to continue praying and preparing for a harvest of souls! I strongly believe this can happen if we work together. With the help of the GBC staff we have developed an outreach plan that will excite pastors and encourage churches in every community to participate.  It is a simple plan to help Georgia Baptists engage the unchurched this Easter. Finally, I want to encourage every pastor and church leader to attend the GBC.

I think it is vital for all of us to come together for this important gathering. This year we have assembled a program designed to inspire, challenge and motivate all of us to remain faithful at finishing the task.

“Through a unified effort to pray for each other and work with each other we can make a difference for Christ. I am excited about the possibilities, even the promise of revival.”

Hammond concluded, “I want to make a personal and passionate appeal for pastors to come at least one of the luncheons we are scheduling for 'Unite Georgia.'"
