Georgia Baptist webinar today shifts attention to churches reconvening

DULUTH — Steps toward reopening businesses across the state has led churches, with caution, to also look at steps for beginning in-person gatherings. A webinar this afternoon will begin that discussion among pastors, titled “Navigating Your Church Reboot.”

“It’s going to basically be a brainstorming session in real time,” explained Scott Smith, Georgia Baptist Online Training strategist. “Our panel is going to grapple with the questions together live on how churches will minister when members come back together.”

Panel members will be Jason Britt, pastor of Bethlehem Church; Tim Dowdy, Georgia Baptist Lead Strategist in Pastor Wellness and recent pastor of Eagles Landing Baptist Church; Stephen Dervan, pastor of Oak Hill Baptist Church in Williamson; Jeremy Morton, pastor of Woodstock First Baptist; and Joel Southerland, pastor of Peavine Baptist Church in Rock Spring. As pastors who have led churches of various sizes throughout their respective ministries, panelists will address how the “reboot” may look for different congregations.

The first call in the series will held over Zoom at 2 p.m. with topics including restarting church services, what to do about summer camps and VBS, and managing church liability around potential sickness. Registering for the event automatically registers attendees for more webinars in the weeks ahead – also to be held Thursdays.
