ATLANTA — Governor Brian Kemp will be joined by faith leaders from across Georgia this morning for a statewide prayer event that can be viewed live on Facebook. The event, which can be seen on the Governor’s Facebook page, will also include Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan and House Speaker David Ralston.
Georgia Baptist Executive Director Thomas Hammond issued a video this morning urging Georgia Baptists to not only watch the live 10 a.m. gathering, but to continue to pray for the state in dealing with the effects from the coronavirus.
Hammond expressed appreciation to the governor for a focus on prayer during this time.
“We know the word of God tells us the that an effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man accomplishes much,” said Hammond.
“Our governor has said that we know that God is our refuge, He’s our strength, and He’s our very present help in a time of trouble. So let’s gather together as a body of believers and pray to our Lord and ask Him to heal our state, our nation, and the world of this virus.”
Hammond’s comments can be seen below. The event will be posted again this afternoon on the Georgia Baptist Mission Board Facebook page.
