Georgia Campers on Mission held its spring rally April 21-23 at Leisure Acres Campground in Cleveland, electing new officers and beginning the process of preparing for hosting the national COM rally in 2018.
Campers on Mission is a national fellowship of Christian campers who share their faith while they camp. It’s sponsored by the Adult Volunteer Mobilization unit of the North American Mission Board.
A devotional by Scott Henderson led into the business meeting, which was joined by six new members. Randy Smith gave the Friday morning devotional prior to the business meeting that saw election of the following officers:
- President Jim Wauford, Woodstock
- Vice President David Lowrey, Flowery Branch
- Secretary/Treasurer Mary Lowrey, Flowery Branch
- Georgia Chaplain Marjorie Albritton, Vidalia
- Georgia Music Director Donna Biggers, Fitzgerald
- Public Relations/Historian Donna Biggers
Keith Ivey, director of Georgia Mountain Resort Ministry, addressed the group on ways to reach fellow campers for Christ as well as work with existing ministries in those areas.
Charlie Solomon, comedian, entertained the group following the Friday evening meal. The fall rally will be held at Twin Oaks RV Park in Elko in September. The National Campers on Mission Rally is slated for Springfield, MO next month. Georgia will host the national meeting in 2018 in Perry.
