Scripture for today: Psalms 147:3
The Bee Gee’s, a pop group consisting of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice, had a hit song entitled, “How Do You Mind A Broken Heart?” If you are familiar with the song, you know it has beautiful harmony.
How can you mend a broken heart?
How can you stop the rain from falling down?
How can you stop the sun from shining?
What makes the world go ‘round?
How can you mend this broken heart?
How can a loser ever win?
Please help me mend my broken heart.
And let me live again.”
Most people have, at times in their lives, had a broken heart. Maybe they went through a divorce. Maybe they lost a job. Maybe they had a child stray. How do you mend a broken heart?
Psalms 147:3 says, “He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.”
Ok, that is a great verse but, how does the Lord do it? Practically speaking, how does the Lord heal our broken hearts?
First, God heals us through prayer. When our hearts are broken, we have a tendency to call on God and pour out our hearts asking for help and God grants it. God begins doing a supernatural work in our lives and heals us.
Second, God heals through time. Someone has said, “Time is a great healer,” and that is true. Sometimes, it just takes time for someone to heal.
Third, God heals through friends. Whenever we are hurting, we may go to our friends and they listen to us. They comfort us.
If you have a broken heart, God loves you and wants to help you. It likely will not happen overnight; it will take time. But God does heal the broken hearted.
