ATLANTA — Longtime Christian Index staff member Grace Nasworthy, 99, passed away on May 29.

The former administrative assistant to three editors served at the state paper for 46 years, from 1939 through her retirement in 1985. She began with O.P. Gilbert (1930-47), continued with John Jeter Hurt (1947-66), and concluded with Jack Harwell (1956-87).

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norris Nasworthy. Survivors include a son, Joe Nasworthy; granddaughter, Kelly Nasworthy; grandson, Michael Nasworthy; and six great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held June 1 at Crouch Cemetery with Ken Dobbs officiating.

Gaines encourages Awakening attendees at Southwestern Seminary to ‘pray like it matters’
