Letter: Appreciation for Georgia Baptists, collegiate ministries

Posted
I want you to know you have hit a home run with your collegiate ministry around the state!  Known as Baptist Campus Ministry, your campus ministers serve on the college campus helping to bring students to faith in Christ, disciple them and give them a heart for missions.  I serve as Pastor at New Colony Baptist Church in Billerica, Ma.  Yes, that\'s the hometown of Atlanta Braves Hall of Fame Pitcher Tom Glavine.  He attended Billerica Memorial High School directly across the street from New Colony. The Send Me Now missions emphasis by the GBC Convention Collegiate Ministry Staff and Campus Ministers is doing an incredible job of helping students move out of their comfort zones to serve during the summer in many different locations, both domesticly and internationally.  New Colony benefits from receiving two Send Me Now students every June 1 for two months to help us with our July ministry called Super Summer.  This is the 25th year New Colony has held this 4 week July ministry for children in grades kindergarten-6th grade.  Every year the church receives two students to serve with us as we lead Super Summer.   Thank you for your investment in these amazing students.  Keep up the incredible ministry of leading, teaching and equipping students to be on mission for Christ on their college campuses, in their hometowns, in the marketplace, around our nation, internationally  and, yes, at New Colony.  Our New Colony family is grateful for you.   Sincerely, Dr. Phil Wilkes
