“Nevertheless I have this against you, that you have left your first love. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works.” Revelation 2:4-5
Brad was a twelve-year-old boy attending a summer camp where I was speaking. He had glasses as thick as coke bottles and a very quiet disposition. One evening the Lord spoke to the hearts of several young people, they made their way to the altar, and I went over to pray with Brad. I will never forget Brad looking up at me. His glasses were full of tears which rolled down his cheeks as he raised his head.
“Brad, can I pray with you about anything.”
“Yes, Pastor Mark, when I was a little boy, I had cancer and I loved the Lord a whole lot more then than I do now. Will you pray that I can love Him like I did when I had cancer?”
I do not know about you but I am just like Brad. There have been times I loved the Lord a whole lot more than I do now. Dear Lord help me, and maybe someone else, to return to our first love.
