Scripture for today: Luke 12:32
Imagine a place of perfect bliss. Children play happily. God-honoring music plays in the background. Succulent food is served by smiling people. No, this is not heaven. This is Chick-fil-A.
Chick-fil-A is God’s gift to Christians who eat fast food. But what separates Chick-fil-A from their competitors is not just the quality of their food or the consistently fast manner in which they serve it. What makes Chick-fil-A great is their customer service. Every time you say “thank you” to a Chick-fil-A employee, they always respond with the same cheery reply of “my pleasure.”
I do not know where Truett Cathy got the “my pleasure” idea, but I would like to think he was influenced by Luke 12:32. In this verse, Jesus says, “Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
God takes pleasure in giving good things to His children. Our pleasure is His pleasure. God does not begrudgingly hand out His blessings. When we tell Him “thank you” for how He blesses us, He always responds with a gracious and sincere “my pleasure,” and He keeps on refreshing our hearts for His glory.
Father, thank you for the many blessings you pour out on us each day. Thank you for graciously delighting in me. Help me to delight in you.
