Pastors and lay leaders around Georgia were recognized for their scholastic efforts and leadership through a New Orleans Seminary program that seeks to expand opportunities for theological education.

Church leadership certificates are composed of eight one-hour classes accredited through Leavell College at NOBTS, and are designed to benefit pastors who cannot travel to the seminary campus or an extension center as well as lay leaders wanting to build their skills in ministry for the local church.

“Most every area of the church was represented … in the most recent set of graduates,” said Robert Wilson, who began January as the director over the 22 certificate centers located in Georgia an Alabama.

Certificates available include:

  • Biblical Ministry
  • Biblical Teaching
  • Christian Education
  • Church Planting
  • Pastoral Ministry
  • Pastoral Ministry in African American Church Studies

Two sets of graduations for the certificates took place in December, said Wilson, with one at Liberty Baptist Church in Fayetteville and the other on the New Orleans Seminary campus.
