Online pre-registration process for GBC annual meeting set to begin in September

DULUTH — Georgia Baptists can soon pre-register for the annual meeting scheduled for Nov. 12-13 at Second Baptist Church in Warner Robins.

The online pre-registration process enters its third year in application. No messenger cards, leadership emphasizes, will be mailed ahead-of-time to churches this year.

Next month, churches will be sent a letter with a unique username, password, and number of messengers allowed along with directions on how and where to log in. Those failing to receive a letter can use the same login information for submitting annual church leadership and statistical reports.

After the names of a church's elected messengers are entered online, credentials letters can be printed directly from the website. However, credentials letters can also be emailed to those messengers providing an address. Those letters – either printed out or emailed – will be accepted at the registration area in November. Upon confirmation, messengers will receive their name badge, ballots, and convention information.

The transition to online pre-registration has only become smoother since 2016, say Georgia Baptist Mission Board personnel. The same method has become commonplace for the annual Southern Baptist Convention meeting.

Convention leaders encourage using the pre-registration process. Otherwise, messengers face a potentially time-consuming introduction to the annual meeting.

Upon arriving at Second Baptist Church, messengers without pre-registration will be directed to the Credentials table. There, each congregation will be evaluated based on Cooperative Program Giving and Great Commission Gifts to determine the number of allowable messengers. This evaluation remains unchanged from last year’s. At that point, those individuals will need to be confirmed by a signature from the pastor, moderator, or church clerk in person, over the phone, or by email.

Churches listed as a mission can contact their host, or sponsoring, church in order to register with them. But whether able to vote or not, guests are welcome to attend the meeting.
