ROME — Shorter University has established a student loan assistance program for incoming freshman students who are active members of Georgia Baptist Mission Board churches.
The student loan assistance program, called The Shorter Promise, is offered to a limited number of Georgia Baptist incoming freshmen for the fall of 2018. The no-cost program provides qualified students who enroll at Shorter with assistance repaying student and parent loans if their income does not meet a specific income threshold after graduation.
“We are excited to offer this program at no cost to our Georgia Baptist family,” said Shorter University President Dr. Don Dowless. “As part of our mission as a Christ-centered university, Shorter University is committed to providing as much financial support as possible. Each year, we award approximately $11 million in student scholarships. We are pleased that The Shorter Promise program allows us to add a new financial safety net for students and families.”
Dr. Emily Messer, Shorter’s vice president for enrollment management, added, “We want our students to be able to follow their dreams without worrying about student-loan debt. The Shorter Promise is one more way Shorter helps students pursue the paths to which God has called them.”
