Sons of Jubal, Jubalheirs concerts set for tonight and tomorrow; few 2018 concerts remain

Georgia Baptists's women's choral group Jubalheirs, above, will perform tomorrow night while the Sons of Jubal will present their concert tonight.

The Sons of Jubal and Jubalheirs are nearing the end of their 2018 concert season and few dates remain to hear the vocal groups. Both tonight's Jubal concert and tomorrow night's Jubalheirs event are expected to be near capacity seating so attendees are encouraged to arrive early.

The Sons of Jubal, the men's choral group, will perform twice today at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Snellville with the preludes beginning at 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Their next concert will be performed on Sept. 13. At Warren Baptist Church in Augusta.

On October 4 the general public will be able attend the final concert at Georgia Baptist Conference Center in Toccoa. While not a formal event, it will be the first concert in several years at the venue.

The Jubalheirs, the women's choral group, have two remaining concerts this year before their performance season draws to a close. Tomorrow night's concert at First Baptist Church of Ellijay will begin at 7 p.m., but will be preceded by the 6:30 p.m. prelude. Their final concert will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 5 at Macland Baptist Church in Powder Springs.

Both group’s 2019 concert schedule will be published later this year.

The Sons of Jubal are composed primarily of Georgia Baptist ministers of music but include other staff members and Directors of Missions/Associational Mission Strategists.

The men’s group completed a tour of Wales and England earlier this year and their women’s counterpart will perform in the Holy Land next Fall.

Anyone interested in joining either group can contact the Worship and Music office or visit the website. There is no charge for the concerts, but an offering is taken to benefit the mission efforts of each group.

Both groups also have CDs available for purchase in the Georgia Baptist Mission Board e-store as well as digital downloads on Google Play, Apple, and Amazon. Once a year the group combines for a concert with 300+ voices of the Jubal Chorus and a full orchestra.

Both groups also have auditioned ensembles and handbell groups. The Sons of Jubal is accompanied by a brass group and both groups have a variety of accompanists (pianists/organists) from Baptist churches in Georgia.
