JONESBORO, Ga. – The Baptist Faith and Message 2000 will be part of the Georgia Baptist Convention’s constitution and bylaws after a vote by messengers on Tuesday.

Tommy Fountain, chairman of the Georgia Baptist Executive Committee, made the motion to amend the GBC’s constitution and bylaws to incorporate the Baptist Faith and Message, the doctrinal statement of the Southern Baptist Convention.

“We’re excited about passing this,” Fountain said. “It’s long overdue.”

Georgia and a handful of other state conventions have now taken the action, and others are expected to follow.
