ATLANTA – Help is on the way for Georgia farmers and timber producers who suffered losses from Hurricane Helene. The Georgia State Financing and Reinvestment Commission voted Friday to redirect $100 million from a state capital projects fund to provide financial support for farmers affected by the massive storm and debris cleanup for owners of damaged timberland.
McDONOUGH, Ga. — Brady Howard, pastor at Glen Haven Baptist Church in McDonough, will be nominated to serve as vice president of the Georgia Baptist Convention at the annual meeting scheduled for Nov. 11-12 in Statesboro. Stephen Fountain, lead pastor at First Baptist Buford, said he intends to nominate Howard.
VALDOSTA, Ga. — Garrett Grubbs, senior pastor at Crossroads Baptist Church, will be nominated to serve as vice president of the Georgia Baptist Convention at the annual meeting scheduled for Nov. 11-12 in Statesboro. Stephen Dervan, the lead pastor at Oak Hill Church in Williamson, said he intends to nominate Grubbs.
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Midwestern Seminary welcomed R. Albert Mohler Jr. to campus on October 29–30 to deliver the annual Spurgeon Lectures on Biblical Preaching. Mohler, who serves as president of Southern Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, preached from two Old Testament passages, drawing out their applications for expositional preaching.
