C-Peeks now available for April Cooperative Program emphasis

College can be stressful, but faith-based groups like BCM take the edge off of a hard week and build fellowship. Cooperative Program Emphasis Sunday comes but once a year, but the ministry continues 24/7 and 365.

And with that realization, next month Georgia Baptists will be celebrating the denomination’s primary funding channel to take the gospel across the nation and Canada and around the world.

“Some church members don’t often see the connection between their giving into the offering plate at church and what God is doing with their church’s Cooperative Program missions gifts. This year, congregations will be able to focus briefly on the mission offering throughout the month of April,” said state missionary Buck Burch.

Connecting to college campuses

Cooperative Program Emphasis Sunday will be observed on April 8 – but will continue for the following three Sundays … April 15, 22, and 29. Burch, who serves as a missionary in the Cooperative Program Giving & Stewardship office of the Georgia Baptist Mission Board, said four, short, one-minute videos will bring the message home to congregations of all sizes.

“These short, to-the-point videos will connect your church’s Cooperative Program giving to real missions on college campuses here in Georgia. Using Georgia Tech, UGA, Georgia State, and Georgia College as examples, the presentations thank your church for the impact you are making in reaching the next generation of lostness in Georgia,” he explained.

Burch knows firsthand about the Cooperative Program, having served in Russia with his wife Leslie from 1998 until 2011. The couple saw firsthand the needs that were being met thousands of miles from where Georgia Baptists were placing their special offerings in the collection plates.

From Bainbridge to Toccoa, Millen to Villa Rica, Georgia Baptists played an important role in reaching that nation with the gospel.

That is why he is committed today to helping keep the offering alive and well.

The videos produced through his office are called C-Peeks, because they give church members a “peek” into CP at work among young people. He offers three ways the items can be utilized this year:

• Show one right before the offering to point to how your congregation’s giving is changing lives.
• Show one on a loop for announcements before the service begins. Let a small group or Sunday School class show them as a part of their lessons.
• Reprint the QR code or the website hyperlink to the videos into your printed bulletin.

Burch noted that the C-Peeks videos are not dated, so they can be shown in any order. Download them freely at gabaptist.org/cpeeks

There are also some clip art that can be used in the church newsletter and color bulletin inserts that can be download.

With April 8 only three weeks away, this is a good time for churches to begin thinking of how they can participate in the month-long emphasis.
