Columbus-area pastor Udell Addison dies at 79

COLUMBUS — Udell Addison, who pastored several churches in and around the Columbus area for decades, died at his home in Columbus on June 7. He was 79.

Addison was a native of Newnan who became a minister in 1960, going on to serve for 40 years. His places as pastor include: Central Baptist, Glenn Anthony Baptist, and Kirkland Baptist churches, all in Columbus, as well as Mountville Baptist in LaGrange, First Baptist in Pine Mountain Valley, and Altman Memorial Baptist in Fortson. His longest tenure was at Glenn Anthony Baptist in Columbus, where he served for nearly 20 years.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary Ellen Addison of Columbus; daughters Angie Roberts, of Columbus, and Terrie Pope, of LaGrange; a son, Russell Addison, of LaGrange; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
