WOODSTOCK, Ga - Dr. Abby Johnson, a highly influential national leader in the pro-life movement who is famous for the movie Unplanned (which is about her life) will be the keynote speaker for the Marietta 40 Days For Life Kick-off event at First Baptist Church, Woodstock, Ga. on March 2.
Abby is a former director of a Planned Parenthood clinic. She made the courageous decision to resign and dedicate her life to advocating for the pro-life cause. Her powerful journey from an abortion insider to a passionate advocate for life has inspired countless individuals to change their perspectives on this critical issue.
Her website tells us that the change from “Planned Parenthood took place on September 26, 2009, when Abby was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion. She watched in horror as a 13-week baby fought for, and ultimately lost, its life at the hand of the abortionist.”
“At that moment,” the story continues, “she fully realized what abortion actually was and what she had dedicated her life to. As it washed over Abby, a dramatic transformation occurred. Desperate and confused, Abby sought help from a local pro-life group. She swore that she would begin to advocate for life in the womb and expose abortion for what it truly is.”
I am so thankful for Georgia Baptist pro-life leaders like Suzanne and Rachel Guy who are helping sponsor this very needed event with Abby Johnson. As members of First Baptist Church of Woodstock, and under the leadership of Pastor Jeremy Morton, they are leading an important pro-life ministry called Life Initiatives and Values (LI-V).
The ministry at FBC Woodstock focuses on ministering to mothers and a babies in such a way that they are helping make abortion unthinkable in a post-Roe era. It is out of this context that they are promoting the Marietta 40 Days for Life Event.
Rachel Guy says, “Abby Johnson’s powerful, transformative, gospel testimony is a story that shows us that God desires to see all saved and there is no one so far away from Him that He cannot reach them.”
This event is going to help us see that the gospel of Christ is what should motivate us to love our neighbor and help them in times of need, showing others that Christ makes the difference even in pregnancy situations.
Suzanne Guy also reminds us that, “Abby Johnson is anointed and used by God to show the urgency to take meaningful action to show pregnant women in challenging pregnancy situations that there is real hope and real help and the church of Jesus Christ.” She goes on to say that the church, “is here to live out the gospel in word and action and there is a role for all to play.”
The purpose of this kind of event is to:
During this inspiring evening you will hear from pro-life leaders sharing messages of the gospel put into action by valuing and serving both mother and children/inside and outside the womb. You will hear ways to show that the church is the place to go for real help and real hope and real compassion is not at the abortion clinic.
In addition to Abby Johnson, there will also be other incredible speakers: Pastor Christian Norman of First Baptist Woodstock, Pastor Chuck Ramsey of Restoration and Father Larry Niese of St Michael’s. They will all pray and share a brief word about the life issue and the value of all human life and the church serving and discipling women (and men) who find themselves in challenging pregnancy situations. Bob Wendell will be sharing his powerful pro-life poems.
This event will be on Sunday, March 2, 2025. The doors will open at 6:00 pm and the event starts at 6:30 pm. Everything will take place at First Baptist Church of Woodstock, in Building A, on 11905 Highway 92 in Woodstock, GA 30188
Please feel free to RSVP to Suzanne Guy or Rachel Guy at proverbs31eight@att.net or Suzanne at 404 394 0041 Rachel 404 922 7659.
Trust me, now is the time for the church to stand up for life and prove it by our love for mothers and babies in difficult situations. It’s the life-changing gospel that makes the biggest difference! Let’s all help to make abortion unthinkable!
