The Georgia Baptist Mission Board encourages all our churches to make sure their members are aware of upcoming elections on Nov. 4. In Georgia, there are many local elections happening as well as the statewide Public Service Commission races. Early voting has already begun for these races, and it runs through October 31.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4, and the Georgia Faith and Freedom Coalition has provided a voter guide for the state election. You can check on your voter registration, polling location, and more at the Secretary of State's My Voter Page. You can also reach out to Sam Steiner to request voter guides for your church, neighborhood, or community event.
The Faith and Freedom Coalition is committed to educating, equipping, and mobilizing people of faith and like-minded individuals to be effective citizens. They prepare non-partisan voter guides to encourage citizens to get out and vote.
As Georgia Baptists, we never instruct our church members about who to vote for. Our main desire is that every voter be well-informed and active in voting for the best candidates possible.
We all must constantly be reminded that elections have consequences! This is true whether it is a local, state, or national election. It is the people that we put in office who ultimately are responsible for good or bad policies that govern our nation.
We all must be reminded that our first responsibility as a person living in a republic is to participate, whereas the only responsibility in a monarchy is to obey. Therefore, nothing characterizes our responsibility to participate more than voting for all our elected officials.
As we approach the November elections, please join us in praying that our citizens will have wisdom and discernment in voting. We cannot emphasize enough how important it is to go to the polls and vote your Biblical convictions.
Let’s engage as Christians and make sure we spread as much of God’s salt and light as we can in our state. I believe that for such a time as this, God has brought us here to make a difference for Christ in the public square!
