Franklin Graham’s counsel to Rosie O’Donnell

Franklin Graham

I have always appreciated and admired a person with courage and intestinal fortitude. It is even better when that courage is based on values and truth.

I believe Franklin Graham is such a man. I heard him speak at an Atlanta Religious Freedom Rally at Liberty Square across from the State Capitol. He did not hesitate to share the Gospel on that occasion.

On Christmas morning Graham was interviewed on the "Fox and Friends" television broadcast. Just prior to the interview the FOX channel showed a video clip of President Donald Trump praising those who have abandoned the phrase “Happy Holidays” in favor of “Merry Christmas.”

Graham was then asked, “Share with our viewers the power of explicitly stating the name [of Jesus] and saying Christmas has always been about something and we are going to make sure that we say it.”

In response to that introductory sentence Graham answered with a strong, unapologetic presentation of the Gospel, saying, “At Christmas we give gifts, but Christmas is really about God giving – giving us His Son, Jesus Christ.”

Graham talked about our sins separating us from God and how we are all under a death sentence, because the wages of sin is death. He quoted John 3:16, spoke of the exclusivity of the Gospel and stated that Christmas is all about Christ.

Graham also praised President Trump for “not being ashamed to mention the name of Jesus Christ and expressed delight that he not only boldly stands for Christ, but for all religious freedom.”

Recently, Graham dared to have a word of Christian counsel to one of the President’s most vehement critics – Rosie O’Donnell. Allow me to establish the proper scenario for this dissemination of spiritual instruction from Graham to O’Donnell.

Since the beginning of his presidential campaign Donald Trump has had his detractors and opponents. There were even a handful of celebrities who threatened to leave the country if he were elected as president.

Among those who threatened (or promised) to leave were Jon Stewart, Jennifer Lawrence, Whoopi Goldberg, Miley Cyrus, Al Sharpton, Cher, Barbra Streisand, Samuel L. Jackson, Spike Lee, George Lopez, and, the infamous Ms. O’Donnell.

For bane or blessing all the above celebrities continue to be conspicuously present in this beloved land. I, for one, would not have been extraordinarily disappointed if they had kept their promise to bless another country with their citizenship.

There has been no love lost between the President and the comedian and former co-host of “The View,” but she recently turned her hostility toward another politician, Speaker of the House Paul Ryan.

O’Donnell, who must live in a constant state of disenchantment, was apparently upset over the recent passage of the Tax Reform Legislation.  Consequently, she offered a caustic retort to one of Speaker Ryan’s “Tweets.”

Just before Christmas Ryan wrote: “At the end of each year, no matter how short – or long – it may feel, there is always Christmas. Waiting for us is that sense of wonder the shepherds felt when the angels appeared in the night sky to herald the birth of a Savior.”

In Rosie’s Twitter response, she called Ryan a “fake altar boy” and indicated that he would go straight to (the place of eternal torment) for what he “did to our nation.” Then she added the hashtag “#JUDASmuch” to the message.

O’Donnell surely must have been referring to the GOP tax plan when she told him where he could spend eternity. And by adding the hashtag, she was equating the Speaker of the House with the disciple who betrayed Jesus.

O’Donnell has a history of extreme liberalism, profanity, lesbianism, divorces from two wives, attempts to bribe senators, etc. However, Franklin Graham gave her the best counsel she could ever receive.

In his tweet to O’Donnell, Graham explained, “Rosie O’Donnell is back in the news today for going after Speaker of the House Paul Ryan on Twitter after he posted a Christmas video message honoring the birth of Jesus Christ. Among other things, she told Speaker Ryan he was going “straight to h_ _ _ .”

Graham continued, “Rosie, you don’t have the keys to hell, but I know the One who does. And I can tell you who will be there. Hell is going to be filled with people who rejected God’s offer of salvation and turned their backs on His laws and standards, refusing to repent.

“Jesus Christ is God in the flesh, and He took your sins and mine to the Cross, dying in our place, so that we might live – if we would turn from our sins and put our faith in Him.

“I hope one day you will put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and let him heal your heart, clean up your mouth, and forgive your sins. Do that today – you’ll never regret it.”

Thank you, Franklin Graham, for your steadfast witness!

May all of us who name the name of Christ not only be found faithful to declare “Merry Christmas” in December, but may we boldly share the good news of salvation in Christ at every opportunity in the New Year.
