KENNESAW, Ga. — On Thursday, May 1st, more than 200 faith leaders, elected officials, leaders in business and education, and concerned citizens will gather for the 4th Annual Freedom of Religion Roundtable to discuss the legal, social, and political trends surrounding religious liberty in Georgia. The discussion will center on how individuals working to be peacemakers can help to secure human dignity and religious liberty for all people.
The keynote speaker will be Micah Fries, Director of Programs at the Multi-Faith Neighbors Network and Director of Engagement at GlocalNet whose mission is to mobilize church members to engage in society and create flourishing communities. The evening will also feature a roundtable discussion on religious freedom with panelists Daniel Dorsch, Senior Rabbi at Congregation Etz Chaim and President of the Atlanta Rabbinical Association; Jackie Marcinko, Vice President of Interfaith Atlanta and Catholic Religion Teacher at Christ the King Middle School; Kemal Korucu, former Board President of Southeast Islamic Community Center and former Vice President and Interfaith Dialogue Coordinator at the Atlantic Institute; and Mesha Mainor, former Georgia State Representative for District 56.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Hannah Clayson-Smith, who serves as Senior Fellow at the International Center for Law and Religion Studies at the J. Reuben Clark School of Law, and National Coordinator at the Religious Freedom Alliance Council. Mrs. Clayson-Smith is also a former clerk to both Supreme Court Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito and is the former Senior Counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty.
Elected officials, clergy, leaders in business and education, and concerned citizens will gather for the 4th Annual Freedom of Religion Roundtable to discuss the legal, social, and political trends surrounding religious liberty in Georgia and America with a recognition that a threat to the religious liberty of one American is a threat to the religious liberty of all Americans.
