Georgia Baptist Convention President Browning appoints members to Committee on Nominations

Georgia Baptist Convention President Steve Browning, First Baptist Alpharetta, announces that the following persons will serve on the 2025 Committee on Nominations:

Joining Convention President Steve Browning on the committee are ex officio members Executive Committee Chairman Stephen Fountain, First Baptist Buford, and Executive Director Thomas Hammond.

The Executive Committee’s composition and eligibility shall be as provided for in the Bylaws of the Corporation’s Sole Member, Georgia Baptist Convention, Inc. Currently, the Executive Committee shall consist of (a) six (6) ex officio members, which consist of the President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Recording Secretary, and the two (2) Assistant Recording Secretaries). Also included, one (1) member elected from each cooperating Association, and (c) five (5) members from each of the six (6) state regions (thirty (30) members total from the six regions). Each elected member shall be elected to a five-year (5) term. It is important that if possible at least one-half of the at-large positions elected annually to serve on the Executive Committee be laypersons. Each Executive Committee member shall also be a member in good standing of a Cooperating Church.

The Committee on Nominations announces that at the 2025 annual meeting of the Georgia Baptist Convention, eleven (11) associational full-term memberships and six (6) At Large full-term memberships (1 from each region) may be elected pending qualifications are met, as well as any unexpired terms which become vacant during the year. Georgia Baptists are reminded that the associations may suggest names to the Committee on Nominations for the associational vacancies.

Associations preparing to suggest names for consideration by the Committee on Nominations will receive a nomination form from the office of the Executive Director and are requested to return the completed form to the office of the Executive Director Thomas Hammond, 4295 Brogdon Exchange, Suwanee, Georgia 30024-3980, 770.480.8578 or email: jjohnson@gabaptist.org. The Committee on Nominations will meet on April 29, August 5, October 7, and, if needed, November 10.

Associations for which full five-year term (2025-2030) Executive Committee members will be elected in 2025 are Centennial, Colquitt County, Etowah, GordonMemorial, Lookout Valley, Mallary, Mulberry, Polk-Haralson, Southside Baptist Network, Washington, and West Metro.
