Georgia Baptists give nearly $9M to health care ministries

DULUTH, Ga. — Helping those who help others is the mission of the Georgia Baptist Health Care Ministry Foundation. In 2025, the Foundation awarded $8,977,399.43 to support the work of 87 health care ministries across the state. That's an increase of more than 6.5% from last year's total.

Larry Wynn, GBHCMF executive director, said, “Our efforts in offering grants to non-profit health care organizations is intended to lighten the burden of those who offer health care services, and those who receive those benefits.”

The focus, he added, is on “funding ‘hands-on’ health care ministries.”

Grants are awarded to organizations that emphasize compassionate care and unconditional acceptance of those they serve.

Among the organizations receiving funding for 2025 are the nursing programs at the state’s three Baptist universities, Brewton-Parker, Shorter, and Truett McConnell. Pregnancy centers, medical and dental clinics, and mobile health ministries across Georgia also received support.

Organizations receiving funding reported close to 1,000 salvation decisions in the past year and 25,455 since 2005, when the grant program began.

Additionally, foundation-funded clinics that minister to mothers-to-be have saved the lives of more than 25,000 babies that otherwise may not have been carried to full term.

The foundation has awarded more than $92 million in grants since its creation.
