SUWANEE, Ga. — Georgia Baptists will host pastors from across the state at the Georgia Capitol on Feb. 6, 2025, for the 11th annual Pastors Day event. Pastors and ministry leaders will hear from several leaders in the legislative and faith communities. The event will again combine the annual Legislative Prayer Breakfast and Pastors Day.
“I am excited about the upcoming annual Pastors’ Day at the Georgia State Capitol,” said Mike Griffin, public affairs representative for the Georgia Baptist Mission Board. “We have been seeing an increase in attendance and enthusiasm in the opportunity for ministry leaders and laymen to discover how to navigate the legislative landscape for the sake of advancing a witness for the gospel in the public square.”
Pastors are also invited to ask their state legislators to join them at the event. “As always, our event is not just for pastors,” said Griffin. “All legislators, pastor’s wives, and ministry leaders are invited to discover how to engage the legislative process of state government from a Biblical worldview.”
Following breakfast, attendees will be able to take a tour of the State Capitol before lunch.
In addition to Griffin, this year’s speakers will include Ben Watson, vice president of Strategic Relationships for The Human Coalition; Lauren Eden, national ambassador and Georgia advocate for the Abortion Survivors Network; Brad Hughes, director of Governor’s Office Outreach and Public Affairs Committee chairman for the Mission Board; and Ed Setzler, Georgia state senator for the 37th district.
Ben Watson is a former NFL tight end, as well as an author, a speaker, and an advocate. A Bart Starr award winner, two-time Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee and Super Bowl Champion during his 16 seasons, he is now a college football studio analyst with the SEC Network, VP of strategic relationships with Human Coalition, and director of football for Pro Athletes Outreach. Along with his wife, Kirsten, he is the founder of The Watson 7 Foundation, a nonprofit focused on strengthening families. Pursuing their mission of justice, kindness and faith, the Watsons live in Georgia with their seven children.
Lauren Eden is a wife, mom, ministry veteran, and second trimester surgical abortion survivor. Lauren spent 19 years serving on three church staffs in the Atlanta area, where she focused her ministry on the next generation through her work in adult, student, and children's ministries. However, after finding out her abortion survival story as an adult, Lauren felt called to share her miraculous birth story. In 2020, Lauren connected with the Abortion Survivors Network, which opened the door to sharing her story full time. She now serves as a National Ambassador and Georgia Advocate for the Abortion Survivors Network, as well as a pro-life speaker with Ambassador Speaker’s Bureau. Lauren considers her husband and three boys her most important ministry. She lives in Peachtree City, Georgia.
In addition, the GBMB Public Affairs Committee will recognize the 2024 Legislators of the Year for their service and support.
