Hamilton led in music at Annistown Road Baptist Church, Gwinnett associational work

SNELLVILLE — Tony Hamilton, who served as minister of music and administration at Annistown Road Baptist Church before transitioning to senior adult pastor, died from complications related to COVID-19 on Aug. 11. He was 64.

Hamilton was born in Clermont and went on to attend both Truett McConnell University, where he became a Christian, and Shorter University, majoring in Music Education. While working as a human resources representative for K-Mart, Hamilton served as interim minister of music at numerous churches. He was also a member of the Sons of Jubal, a men’s singing group comprised of Georgia Baptist music ministers.  

In 2012 Hamilton was ordained and became the full-time minister of music and administration at Annistown Road Baptist Church. He served in many roles with Gwinnett Metro Baptist Association, including executive assistant. Hamilton also recently rolled off a term on the Executive Board of Truett McConnell University and finished a term as TMU alumni president. Last year he was named TMU Alumnus of the Year.
