MANCHESTER, Ga. – Members of Trinity Baptist Church in Manchester are showing their appreciation to Gladys Walker who has served as t heir pianist and organist for more than three decades.

The church presented her with a plaque commemorating 32 years of faithful service and gave her a floral arrangement containing 32 red roses.

Fellow church member Betty Baskin described Walker as “one of the most dedicated and Godly women to ever serve her church and her community.”

Walker also gave of her time and God-given talents to other congregations as well, including Warm Springs First Baptist Church. She also played at associational services.

“Many Sundays started with her playing for one congregation and then driving to another service to play and then once again playing at a homecoming service or other special events,” Baskin said.

Walker and her husband, Corbit, also have given their time in other areas of the community, including working at the Corbit Walker Developmental Disabilities Home that’s named in honor of her husband.

Baskin said they’ve also worked with Habitat for Humanity and have been on local and international mission trips. On one of those trips, they helped renovate a church in the West Indies.

Baskin said the celebration honoring Walker was long overdue.
