I’m from Baltimore and stopping by Atlanta very briefly for the new year. I wanted to stop by and let you know what campus ministry has meant in my life.
My father came here from Taiwan as a grad student in 1979 hardly knowing any English with just a one-way ticket to the U.S. trying to make a new life for himself. Upon landing in Atlanta he asked the taxi driver to take him to the library because he didn’t know where else to go. At the library two students befriended him. Turns out he missed orientation the day before and these students graciously helped him move into his dorm, find his books and classes.
These students were part of BSU and invited my dad to their weekly Bible study (aka free food to a poor grad student). At the end of the term he attended your retreat and that was when he had an encounter with God. After that my mom flew out here to join my dad and she too came to accept Christ. I was born in 1985 long after all this but I wanted to encourage you and thank you for how God has used your ministry in my family’s life.
Campus ministry can make such a big difference in people’s lives. I hope this encourages you to keep up the good work.
Thank you and God bless!
