On Sunday, Jan. 24 Immanuel Baptist Church and the Georgia Baptist Mission Board recognized Dorothea King for having served as church organist for 40 years. King became the church organist when her husband, Rev. Ernest King, became Immanuel’s minister of music/youth in 1976. Morgan D. Kerr, pastor of Immanuel Baptist, is pictured presenting the GBMB plaque to King in recognition for her faithful service. This month marks 34 years that Dennis Watson has served as pastor of Harp's Crossing Baptist Church. The Fayetteville church's staff is a testament to longevity. Keith Turner, minister of education, has been there for 31 years with Associate Pastor Ken Helms celebrating 29 years in June and Minister of Music Steve Owens having just marked 26 years with the congregation in February, all told representing 120 years of ministry experience with the congregation. The church also recently celebrated surpassing its $100,000 Lottie Moon Offering goal by collecting $103,165 for foreign missions.
