SCOTUS rules against God’s definition of marriage

gay_marriage_flagToday’s Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage will create a seismic shift in our culture and American way of life. The Supreme Justices of America’s highest court have not only legislated from the bench, but have redefined life’s most fundamental institution that pre-dates any and all governments.

Presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee commented on the Court’s decision with these words, “I will not acquiesce to an imperial court any more than our Founders acquiesce to an imperial British monarch. We must resist and reject judicial tyranny, not retreat.”

Justice Antonin Scalia, with Justice Clarence Thomas joining him, opened his own concurring dissent warning of “This Court’s threat to American democracy.”

I would liken this disappointing and heartbreaking decision to the work of a menacing giant squid ... Basically, these large sea creatures live deep underwater, are amazingly elusive, are rarely seen, but have far reaching tentacles that kill and devour their unsuspecting prey.

Scalia added, “The substance of today’s decree is not of immense personal importance to me, but what really astounds is the hubris (reckless ambition) reflected in today’s judicial Putsch (a plotted revolt to overthrow the government).”

Those who think the Court’s approval of same sex marriage will not have any significance impact upon their personal lives need to think again. In fact, I would liken this disappointing and heartbreaking decision to the work of a menacing giant squid.

The largest giant squid ever recorded by scientists was almost 43 feet long, and weighed nearly a ton. Basically, these large sea creatures live deep underwater, are amazingly elusive, are rarely seen, but have far reaching tentacles that kill and devour their unsuspecting prey.

The Supreme Court typically remain sequestered in their cloistered, Neoclassical style building across from the U. S. Capitol at One First Street, N. E. in Washington. Over the years they have emerged from their Temple of Justice to announce decisions that have in some cases been chaotic and devastating like the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion on demand in the United States. The Court’s decision on same sex marriage is very much like the giant squid that has far-reaching tentacles and extensive consequences.

Taxpayers, consumers and business owners will be forced to subsidize homosexual relationships. Many of these benefits involve one thing – taxpayer money that homosexuals are eager to get their hands on.

Peter Sprigg, senior fellow for policy studies at the Family Research Council, has written a booklet outlining “The Top Ten Harms of Same-Sex ‘Marriage’.” Here are some of his concerns:

Taxpayers, consumers and business owners will be forced to subsidize homosexual relationships. Many of these benefits involve one thing – taxpayer money that homosexuals are eager to get their hands on.

Furthermore, schools will teach that homosexual relationships are identical to heterosexual ones. Freedom of conscience and religious liberty would be threatened. Religious educational institutions are particularly at risk.

Additionally, fewer children would be raised by a married mother and father, more children would grow up fatherless and birth rates would fall.

Now that homosexuals can marry in all fifty states, polygamist and pedophiles and the incestuous could legitimately seek to marry the person (or persons) of their choice.

Finally, demands for legalization of polygamy would grow. Now that homosexuals can marry in all fifty states, polygamist and pedophiles and the incestuous could legitimately seek to marry the person (or persons) of their choice.

Years ago Evangelist Billy Graham’s wife was reading the draft of a book her husband was writing and came across a section describing the downward spiral of our nation’s moral standards and exclaimed, “If God doesn’t punish America, He’ll have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah.”

I wonder what Mrs. Graham would say if she were alive today.

Rise up, O church of God. Our government has joined the demonic forces that stand against us.
