NASHVILLE (BP) – The team tasked with finding the next person to serve as president of the Southern Baptist Convention Executive Committee is looking at “11 quality candidates,” search team Chairman Adron Robinson said Monday.

“We’ve sent out questionnaires to those 11 candidates,” he said. “They’ve all confirmed that they want to be considered for the role, and we are praying with them, and we are starting the process of vetting them.”

“We’re all working together for the same goal,” Robinson told Baptist Press. “We want to find God’s choice for this position. We want to find God’s will.”

The team began with 25 candidates submitted through an online portal. Fourteen of those declined to be considered, leaving 11.

In addition to Robinson, search team members are Mollie Duddleston of Springdale, Ark.; Mike Keahbone of Lawton, Okla.; Jeremy Morton of Woodstock, Ga.; Philip Robertson of Pineville, La.; and David Sons of Lexington, S.C.
