Sharing God’s Word

Posted

"... so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it."
Isaiah 55:11

A friend of mine was saved at the age of 15 and immediately began to read and memorize Scripture. Before long, God called him to preach. In the middle of the night he would make his way through the woods behind his childhood home to the railroad tracks where he would, “lift up his voice and cry aloud ” (Isa. 58:1), the gospel to the stars.

What he did not know was his older brother would follow him in those early morning hours and listen to him preach God’s Word. After his brother trusted Christ, he shared with my pastor friend how God dealt with his heart while listening to him preach. “It just took awhile for the seed of the gospel to spring up into everlasting life,” he shared.

Yes, it took a while. Some 41 years later he was saved. Six years after that he died.

This week let’s share God’s Word with those around us and rest in the promise that “God’s Word will never return void (Is. 55:11).”
